Rating System

96-100

Near Flawless to Flawless:  Stunning.  In my opinion, a dram of the highest quality.  If not perfection, it’s pretty damn close.

90-95

Exceptional:  Wonderfully balanced with the complexity and character expected in a very fine pour.

85-89

Great:  Plenty of character and definitely recommended.

80-84

Good:  Pleasant and enjoyable.  A solid pour worth looking into.

75-79

Palatable :  No unique qualities.  Flaws possible.

70-74

Marginal/Rough:  Flaws prominent.  Still palatable.  Not recommended.

50-69

Terrible:  Horrible quality.  Avoid at all costs.

Each grade is built upon the following categories: Nose, Palate, and Finish.  Ratings are also category-based: Single Malt, Blend, Bourbon, Rye, etc.
