Rye Up Your Summer with These Rye Whisky Cocktail Recipes

Rye whiskey, in my opinion, can offer some of the most complex tasting experiences in a glass, and that is just pouring it neat from the bottle. It is no wonder that Rye used to hold such a spotlight in the realm of cocktails, but its popularity is back in high demand.

Due to its spicier characteristics, Rye is a wonderful tool for bartenders and mixologists. You do not have to go to a high-end bar or nightclub for a great cocktail, though. Getting ready to host your own event at home, or are you looking for something fun to do with your significant other? Make some summery Rye cocktails. Below are a couple of recipes to get you started.

Rye’d N Dirty (From Austin Foster, Wauwatosa, WI)

Ingredients:
1 1/2 parts Canadian Club® 100% Rye
1 part Ancho Reyes® Ancho Chile Liqueur
3/4 part Fresh Lemon Juice
1/2 part Simple Syrup

Method: Shake all ingredients together in a cocktail shaker with ice and strain into a coup glass. Top with two dashes of Angostura bitters.


Golden Rye (From Luke Farley, Milwaukee, WI)

Ingredients:
1 1/2 parts Canadian Club® 100% Rye
1/2 part Ancho Reyes® Ancho Chile Liqueur
3/4 part Honey Vanilla Syrup
3/4 part Fresh Lemon Juice
Muddled Raspberries
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Expressed Lemon Peel

Method: Muddle three raspberries and all ingredients in a cocktail shaker; shake vigorously. Double strain into cocktail glass over ice and express the lemon peel over drink.
